The Boardwalk Project

Transforming Downtown Kerrville's Backyard

into it's Front Porch

Project Scope

The proposed Boardwalk extends each side of the Sidney Baker bridge.  West to Herring Printing and East to the Bank of America parking lot with future expansion to the old mill site.  The boardwalk will be constructed of low maintenance composite decking over a steel structure, supported by concrete piers.  The width will typically be 12 feet, with larger overlook areas at various locations.  The new Boardwalk Pavilion will be located near the existing concrete stairs and boardwalk at the Bank of America.  This will align with Earl Garrett Street.  River access will be provided by stairways at the Sidney Baker bridge and at the new pavilion.  Handicap access to the river and existing park trails will be provided with a ramp that will traverse the bluff on the north side of the river.  The approximate cost of this privately funded project is one million dollars.
