Acting Tv Work
Acting tv work
Sometimes, actors can do a pretty great job, but because of the amount that they work, they just don’t seem to get the credit that they deserve. After all, starring in movies can be a numbers game, and in a numbers game, you’re going to win some and lose some. Especially for those who have been working for a considerable amount of time in Hollywood and beyond, there is the occasional box office flop or a part that gets someone paid a significant amount, but that doesn’t really manage to inspire with audiences.
However, thanks to the wonders of satellite tv and the hundreds of channels available at a moment’s notice, it is possible to reexamine some of those movies that maybe got panned at the box office but managed to do quite well later on. Or even to take a look at films that audiences clearly loved, but that critics didn’t feel inspired to rate highly. And often when it comes to finding movies that are surprisingly good and from the past decade, you’re going to see that Nicholas Cage might have had a part in them.
The weird thing about Nicolas Cage is that he is a truly great actor, one who could have followed in the footsteps of Pacino and DeNiro if the cards had been drawn differently. It’s not that Cage isn’t able to be expressive: more than just expressive, he was practically charming. In fact, flip on your HDTV set at any given point in the week, and you might be able to find one of the performances from when he was still young and thus boyish looking. “Raising Arizona” and “Moonstruck” are just two examples of him as young, attractive, and capable. Even a film like “Peggy Sue Got Married,” that wasn’t supposed to be all that great, is in hindsight some seriously excellent work.
And that’s the thing about Nicolas Cage movies and satellite tv: there really does always seem to be one on. While most of them will be from that mid-1990s era when all of the sudden he was a stunning action star (think “Con Air” and “The Rock”), you might get lucky and find something older. Whether it was the money, the desire to be a household name, or something else that led to Cage starting to take the roles where he is tough and driving fast cars is not the point. The point is that it happened, and it changed the way that you can think about him as an actor.
Until recently, however. Right now, if you scan through the channels on satellite tv, you might find acclaimed director Warner Herzog’s remake of one of the best crooked cop films of all time, and Nic Cage is very much at the helm of this picture. Completely different from any other role he has played lately, this might be the chance for him to relaunch and reinvent his career, taking his acting chops along with his contemporary appearance to make something other than a motorcycle action film that gets panned immediately. And who knows? Maybe if he goes that route, you’ll see him in better flicks on the silver screen sooner rather than later.
With direct tv, watching all of Nic Cage’s films has never been easier. And if you have direct tv hd dvr, you can even record for times you aren’t home.
